Can anyone tell me why people are bidding this piece of junk up? Chinstrap and cockade possibly?

Hey, I'm one of the least knowledgable people here, but doesn't that helmet have a Prussian cockade on one side and a Saxon cockade on the other side? :?

Not long ago that poor old wreck wouldn't have even fetched $300.00. I don't totally understand why so many folks are overspending of late. Not just pickelhaubes either.

I wish I could be at the winner's home when he realizes his mistake. I would then like to now how he feels when HE can't sell it for anywhere near what HE paid for it.
In my opinion these odd occurances happen at auctions only. Maybe, when someone gets upset that another person is trying to outbid for just a little more than you and before you know it, you screw up and bid tooo much! No, not for the item, but to win!

It happened to me a couple of times but not for pure crap. I've paid too much in anger over someone trying to snipe an item from me.

Oh, maybe he's going to completely refurbish the helmet and sell it for double to one of us... :lol:
