Just a Question

Has anybody ever seen a rounded front visor on a Model 1845 Prussian helmet like this one shown on a Lippe-Detmold Model 1845?

Thanks,
John :?

Thank you, but the helmets pictured appear to be Baden, not Prussian. Several states used a rounded visor but I have never seen one on a Prussian M1842.

I tried to post a pic of the same style helmet but I could not get photobucket to work.

It has the same wappen of the rose and truly a rounded visor.

So according to that book it is correct !!

John, Larcade writes that the Lippe-Detmold spike helmet - 1845 model - was "identical to the Prussian 1842 model", besides the emblem. He shows a picture (from "Der bunte Rock") of a Lippe-Detmold Fusilier officer wearing the 1845 helmet. The front visor is indeed of the square type. Seems like we have some conflicting informations here...

However... Helmut Weitze has for sale an officer helmet with rounded visor:
