JzP Question

Enlisted members of Jäger zu Pferde Regiments 9 through 13 wore a leather model 1895 Dragoon Pickelhaube instead of a Metalhelm.
Does anyone have any historic evidence, photographic or otherwise, of officer's in these units wearing a leather Dragoon style Pickelhaube?
Officers would have had to purchase their own equipment, and apparently most would opt to purchase the JzP Metalhelm.
Was an officer leather helmet required, optional, only required to maintain uniformity, or not required at all?
I can find no information concerning this.
Please help.

You are correct, John, enlisted men in JzP8-13 (created in 1913) did wear Dragoner helmets till metal helmets became available, but JL Larcade specifies clearly that officers in these regiments only wore, from the creation of these regiments, regular metal JzP helmets, and never leather helmets.

Also a great reference is Thomas Brackmann’s book “Unter den Fahnen der Alten Armee”

James Turinetti has also mentioned in his book with regards to EM JzP for Reg. 8-13
