We need the Delorean from Back to the Future.....Just a thought but were helmets and such available to the general public back then.
I'm old but not that old, it would have been awesome to walk into a high-end shop and build one incredible collection.
Didier Laine told me once about a well-known collector who was on the US occupation force in Germany at the end of WW2 and traded a pack of cigarettes for a Garde Reiter officer helmet with parade lion.Just a thought but were helmets and such available to the general public back then.

Indeed, given the social context of the time, this was entirely normal. Not to mention after World War II — even shortly after the end of World War I, items like uniforms and helmets, which are considered extremely valuable today, held very little worth back then.Didier Laine told me once about a well-known collector who was on the US occupation force in Germany at the end of WW2 and traded a pack of cigarettes for a Garde Reiter officer helmet with parade lion.

O K , here we go . Let's add some spice to the KAGGR#1 mitersSteve ! How about some group photo of your miters ?!![]()

This is the first time since I got in the latest officers miter thatO K , here we go . Let's add some spice to the KAGGR#1 miters
Let's start with my 3 enlisted examples
From memory 2 or all 3 have the soldiers name tag sewn into the liner
the one on the left and the one on the right are both from the Fusilier Batl
The middle miter is from a Grenadier Batl. This helmet as you can see has the 2
holes in the front .This means the miter was once owned and worn by the 1 Garde Regt zu Fuss
before they got their new silver front miters .The "Semper Talis " banner had to be removed before
being handed down to the KAGGR1. When I bought this miter years ago , I noted that the Puschel was
red for a musician. My thought at the time , before I got it in my hands was that someone along the way
just put the red Puschel on the miter. When it arrived, there was a name tag inside and the soldier
was a musician .
