It looks to have silver trim, so General a'la Suite would have squared visors, Pioneer, gold chinstrap... I can't tell if it's a Kreutzblat or not under the spike.

It's not in any of my reference books... unless I'm missing something (which is likely). What is it? A Kronprinz spatzial?

Thanks for any info!

fluted spike, rounded visor?

How about 1st Guard Regiment of Foot? Officers in that unit wore a silver trim helmet with a rounded front visor and a fluted spike.

See the following references for photos of the above described helmet.

Imperial German Military Officer's Helmets & Head Dress 1871-1918 pages 87-91

Casques a Pointe et Coiffures Prestigieuses de l'armee allemande 1842-1918, volume 1 pages 21 - 25,

Militarische Kopfbedeckungen der Kaiserzeitpage 104,

Reservist1

Check out the helmet for 1 Garde Regiment of Foot on p. 104 of Reiner Herrmann's Militarische Kopfbedeckungen der Kaiserzeit and pages 89-91
of Imperial German Military Officers Helmets and Head Dress 1817-1918 by Thomas N.G. Stubbs.

Another of the Kaiser's offspring is shown wearing one of the fluted-spiked, round-based helmets here:

I was slow on the draw... :D

Thanks! I didn't have time to look at my references last night, so I've learned a bit that I'd either forgotten or didn't know in the first place (probably the latter).

I took a look in my little pocket reference (it has every type of Imperial German helmet from each state) that I take when I travel and bango! there it was. I just never noticed that particular helmet before. Thanks all!
