That reminds me of a guy in Antwerp (in the senventies) who asked entrance fee to get in his antique store.Pitty Jan Kube asks 10 euros for extra pics....would like to see the liner! ....
I did not know that! All he has to do is attach a photo to an email. He is so old fashioned.Pitty Jan Kube asks 10 euros for extra pics....would like to see the liner! Eigentums/private purchase I would say.

I have done business with him since the 1970's. It is his way or the highway. So he asks
10 Euro for a photo; But here is the deal. How do we pay him the 10 Euro? He will not
take a credit card and he will not take PayPal. The only 2 ways that I know how to pay him
is cash by registered mail or wire transfer. My bank charges $ 55.00 U S Dollars for a wire transfer.
So, the 10 Euro now is 65 + Euro. And that is for the pleasure of doing business with him.
The same goes for a hard copy of his auction catalog.

I guess if you’re 75 like him you don’t care about new stuff like online bidding. It really is his way, or the Highway and you are 1000% percent correct he is old fashioned. I'm a bit set in my ways but hey I'm on a computer and a forum, so it is possible to bring a dinosaur into current days.
He could increase his business in every aspect. He really needs to come into the 21st Century and hire some young out of work kid to set him up with a whole new digital way of doing business. That doesn't mean he would have to stop making hardcopies of his Catalog. Certainly, other auction houses seem to be able do both with no problem.
Could you imagine if he would go digital with actual online bidding. It's certainly not my business to tell him or anyone else how to run theirs but there has to be someone somewhere who could help pull him forward.
The initial lay out in expense would be nothing when compared to the amount of money he would make in increased visibility and sales worldwide. Just my thoughts and to be honest hopes for the future and Herr Kube whom I truly respect.
Like you Steve I've never seen another one, its new to me as well.
He did run one Auction online at the beginning of Covid (May 2020 I think). Guess he didn't like the way it wentI guess if you’re 75 like him you don’t care about new stuff like online bidding.Maybe Sugenheim has no good broadband connection….. would be no real surprise
Best wishes

Kube adds the $50 picture fee to any winning bid. Maybe he just thins out the tire kickers from real bidders by charging a picture fee. I think he might keep a running tab on his frequent clients and forgo's the fee if you hit a certain spend level.
