Dear Friends
yesterday I showed a photo with some young KuK Landesschützen. After their sacrifices on the Eastern front and on the Italian front, to thank and honor these troops, in January 16th 1917, Emperor Franz Joseph changed their name in Kaiserschützen.
This photo shows experienced and trained veterans in mountain warfare.

I had the great luck to help a farmer in Austria, clean the attic in his house in 1972, I was handed the tunic of Ferdinand Holzner, and told to put in the garbage, I was able to convince the farmer that it was not something that should go in the garbage, so he gave it to me, and with a little digging, he found two ammo pouches, a water bottle, and a pile of documents, I opened the tunic, and found the field cap in the inner pocket as well as a 1917 dated pocket calendar.

one mistake...Emperor Franz Joseph died on 1916 Nov. 21st.
Emperor Karl changed the name of these Regiments.

Great luck finding the original jacket and cap!!
