I've posted some of these pictures to other threads, but this is my first dedicated thread for this helmet. When I first bought this metalhelm, it was painted silver, and the spike, base, and wappen were painted a dull, flat gold color. I spent a lot of time with the dremel wire brush, and discovered that when using the dremel, it's best to wear a rain jacket or poncho that the little steel bristles can't stick to or become embedded in.

I haven't straightened the spike yet, but I know how to go about it. The transition on this helmet was decent, and the finish underneath the silver paint really looks good to me; almost like a mirror finish, as I tried to remove the silver paint while retaining the remaining original base finish.

The cockades and chinstrap are reproduction, but I'm very pleased with the chinstrap especially, as it is made by a guy in Ukraine using original metal hardware.
