Any thoughts on this one? I need to study Kaiser's Bunker info on these, but any other comments are welcome.

Thanks

Looks basically OK to me, wish the liner photo was a bit more clear, the wappen looks to be a later one (no web between the bottom of the wing and top of the leg) as does the chinstrap (T-bar connector instead of a round one). These old guys have been through a lot of hands over the past 100 years, so some of the movable bits get changed around, even by the army themselves. Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks, Larry, that's very helpful. I realised the wappen wasn't as described on Tony's site, but I've come across so many variations/anomalies/oddities in my main area of collecting, which is British Victorian and Edwardian dress helmets , that this doesn't bother me too much . I'd missed the point about the chinstrap.

I agree Patrick, it doesn't bother me too much either. It's still a nice old helm and if a fellow spends some time, effort and of course enough money, maybe he can find the right parts and put Humpty-Dumpty back together. A fun project, I've done it myself with some of ours.

I'm suspect on several issues. The steel spike shape is not like any ive seen. The button on the back does not look right. The liner seems newish/odd and the sew job of the tag does not look period. As mentioned the front plate does look right for me either. A better interior pic is much needed. Chris
