Very nice photos! I see a few fellows in there that haven't missed any meals since they got in the Landsturm.

Thanks a lot Mike. :cussing: I laughed so loud I scared the dogs and they shot out of the officee like bullets. :laughing6:

Often the case eh? German comical post cards picked up on this as well, often drawing charatures of huge portly Landsturm men eating Bratwurst etc. Just great photos like usual Brett.

Please don't take this the wrong way Tony, I just love your shako, but I sometimes wonder if there was any jealousy between Landsturm and regulars/reservists. "Gee, they get to wear that really pretty pickelhaube with the nice eagle on it and all I get is this rather plain shako!!" kind of thing. :D

Too hot to go outside today, I might as well post a few more.

(Above) Letter on reverse dated 27.11.14 at Halbe, the author, Landsturmmann Paul Ehrenberg writes to a friend in Fürstenwalde Spree, advising her that he believes a mutual friend (?) has been killed in action. Postage cancelled in Halbe on 27.11.1914.

The author indicates his unit as Landsturm Infanterie Bataillon 'Halbe', presumably III Armeekorps, however I cannot find a record of a Landsturm outfit being raised in Halbe (60km southeast of Berlin). More research required.

The chap standing on the left is an Unteroffizier or Gefreiter, as he has a S71 NCO 'sawback' bayonet attached to his rifle.
