Lamp 'Finial'

Here's the "Lamp Finial, as is" I found last week at a local antique store in a case full of 'stuff'. I guess the holes were for attaching the lamp shade??? Obviously repainted, damaged a bit, but still a nice wartime officer spike. $10 wasn't a bad price either.

I reminded me of the quarter plate Deguariotype (spelling?) I got for $5 years ago as a 'damaged mirror'... the 'damage' was the photograph!

Dumb luck counts.

Nice M15 Off. spike Ron; especially for the price you paid!!
I guess you could always sell or trade that for much more after restauring it a bit... Or even "upgrade" an M1897 Off. Pickelhaube to M1915 provided you find M15 Off. Chinscales & Cockades.

I think I'll leave it just as it is. I have to admit, with all of the other lamp parts, it did look like one, but I still wonder how somebody didn't know this was a helmet spike.

Nice find Ron. You will never find one when you actually look for it.
And... daguerreotype (after Louis Daguerre, the name of the inventor).

Very Cool Ron another example of the treasure hunt that we are all on. It makes all those stops at garage sales and antique stores worth while. You can never stop looking. Congrats!
