I've found some interesting pictures which some people might enjoy seeing, so I decided to post them here as well.

Unit: Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 80

Rank(s): soldiers and a vizefeldwebel (front, center)

Headwear: M1916 Stahlhelm and some fieldgrey krätchen with camouflage straps

Tunic: Model 1907/10 Feldrock, Brandenburg cuffs, shoulder straps marked 80.

Awards: Iron Cross (front, right)

Buckle: Prussian “GOTT MIT UNS”

Accoutrements: Binoculars, M1916 gasmask in bag with spare filter

Ammunition pouches: M1895

Armament: several Gewehr 98, bayonet (S14 probably based on other picture), holstered Luger pistol, trench knive, boot knife. Especially interesting are several M1915 stick grenades (Stielhandgranate) and two rarely seen M1913 ball grenade (Kugelhandgranate). This type of grenade would fragment in 70 to 80 bits upon exploding. Score!

Trench configuration: Sandbag reinforced, firing port with armoured shield.

Nice pictures Sam! The guy with the grenades obviously was posing for pictures. I wonder who he was trying to impress? :?: :?: :?:

Sam,

nice picture indeed. But what makes you think the guy front and centre is a Vizefeldwebel? There is no evidence of a collar button and the peakless cap is not typical of a senior NCO. I believe he is an Unteroffizier.

Regards
Glenn
