Went to visit the Husaren Museum in Brakel-Germany-in Schloss Rheder.
Nice-small museum.
I'll post some pics later. Have to resize them first.
They had this target for Lanzenfechten (replica): nice to see how it works.
Introduction of the lance: the training-the “Lanzenfechten”-
For safe Lanzenfechten “Phantome”/ghosts were build-the so-called “Tote Männer”/Dead Men.
The museum shows a replica of this regulatory pattern. Some years ago It has been build by a member of the Husarenkameradschaft Rheder for the big Husarenausstelling in Schloss Neuhaus in Paderborn.
The target/the rope wound ball was connected to metal weight by a piece of rope. Pinned on the lance this target moves freely for the length of the rope and had to be released (in time...) by the horseman.
