Offered for sale is a large group photo depicting "Lieb Eskadron 1. Grossherzog Mecklenburg Dragoon Regiment Number 17. Ludwigslust".
Subtitled: "Zur Erinerung an meine Rekrutenzeit 1907/1908"
Photographer marked on matting: "F. Esch, Grossh. Hofphotograph, Ludwigslust"
Frame size: approximately 16" wide x 9 1/2" tall. Photograph size is approximately 11 3/8" wide x 4 7/8" tall.
It looks like there were some scratches on the negative when this was printed. I tried to show this in my photographs, but it is hard to shoot an image that has glass in the frame in front of the photograph. Please note that my camera also produced some white spots when I used the flash.
The 116 year old plaster frame has some chips and loss to the plaster. I have tried to show this in the photos provided here.
I have only seen one or two other examples of this type of photograph of the 17th Mecklenburg Dragoon Regiment pre-war. Our own forum member Bob has one of these, if I remember correctly.
