I don't like the helmet. It looks like artificial rust too me

IMO, The helmet was found in a terrible state and the surface was buffed with a wheel. If you look closely you can see the effects which leave only the high points of the surface looking clean and polished.
You can also tell that when cleaning the helmet they stayed away from the tricky tight areas leaving dark areas around the shinny brass bits.
Still a very cool and rare helmet, which has IMO been restored.

Lol don't be too offended by my comment as I had just changed a pair of glasses. I agree with you that it is not artificial rust. As long as u are happy with it, that's the most important part.
