This was the first Prussian Kurassier Officer helmet, Model 1809. This helmet was modified several times over the years and went out of service in 1842 as the Model 1833. It was replaced in 1842-1843 by the metal Kurassierhelm and the Pickelhaube:



This is an extremely rare version of the original 1813 Landwehr Tschako. This would have been used in the War of the Sixth Coalition or the “Befreiungskriege”, the Wars of Liberation:



This is an original officers Tschako from the Mansfelder Pioneer Battalion. This battalion was always identified by the glistening silver oval with crossed hammers appearing on their Tschakos. This would have been used in the Wars of Liberation from 1813 to 1816:



This is a Model 1845 Bavarian Infantry Raupenhelm. This model was used by the Bavarian Infantry in both the Austro-Prussian War (1866) and the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871):



This is a Model 1860 Kugelhelm for the Fuβartillerie. This model was used by the Prussian Foot Artillery in both the Austro-Prussian War (1866) and the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871):



Here is a Model 1860 Bremen Infantry helmet. This helmet is stamped with the Kammer Mark IR75 and is dated 1866. This model was used by the Bremen Infantry in both the Austro-Prussian War (1866) and the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871):



This is a Model 1868 Bavarian Infantry Raupenhelm. This was used in the Franco-Prussian War:



And finally a Model 1867. This helmet has been converted to Landes Gendarmerie or Feld Gendarmerie with the addition of a 1871 Wappen:

Model 1867 Preußen Garde Grenadier Pickelhaube from one of the five Garde Grenadier Regts.

Model 1867 Baden Infantry Mannschaften (Other Ranks) Pickelhaube.

Model 1867 Oldenberg Infantry Mannschaften (Other Ranks) Pickelhaube for Oldenburgisches Inf. - Regt. Nr.91 Oldenburg X.Armee-Korps. Unit marked with a branded OIR 91 on the rear visor.

Model 1868 Bayerische (Bavarian) Jäger Battalion Raupenhelm.

Model 1860 Preußen Jäger and Train Mannschaften (Other Ranks) issued Tschako.

Model 1867 Hessen Mannschaften (Other Ranks) Pickelhaube. This helmet was issued to at least three, or possibly four, different Hessen units in its lifetime; originally it was worn by Hessisches Garde Dragoner Regt in the Franco-Preußen war of 1870-71, then worn by the same regiment when they became Dragoner Regt Nr. 23, then issued to Infanterie-Leib Regt. Großherzogin (3. Großherzoglich Hessisches) Nr.117, and then possibly issued for a final time to a Hessen line Infantry regiment.

Model 1856 Dragoner Reserve / Landwehr Mannschaften (Other Ranks) issued Pickelhaube for Magdeburgisches Dragoner-Regt. Nr.6 (Mainz) XVII Armee Korps.

Model 1862 Preußen Kürassier Mannschaften (Other Ranks) Metalhelme.

Model 1867 Preußen Ulanen Unteroffizier (NCO) Tschapka for Ulanen-Regt. Kaiser Alexander III von Rußland (Westpreußisches) Nr.1 (Militsch, Ostrowo) V Armee Korps.

Model 1867 Preußen Ulanen Mannschaften (Other Ranks) Tschapka to parade for Ulanen - Regt. Hennigs von Treffenfeld (Altmärkisches) Nr. 16, Salzwedel - Gardelegen IV. Armee-Korps. The Tschapka is complete with blue parade "Rabbat" around the neck, Haarbusche (plume), and Fangschnur (Cords).

Model 1867 Sachsen (Saxon) Reiter Raupenhelm from Kgl. Sächs.Reiter Regt Nr. 1, Dresden, XII Armee Korps.

A rare Model 1867/1873 Sachsen (Saxon) Mannschaften (Other Ranks) Train Tschako. Train in the German Army were horse-drawn supply troops.

Hey John,

not sure what exactly happened to him.
Got it from a house clearing where it was found in a attic.
Never touched it since I got it, exept for the liner wich I removed (and kept of course!).

Great helmets! Tony I did not know you owned so many of these early models. Impressive.
By the way there is currently an exhibition on the franco-prussian 1870-71 war at the Musee de l'Armee in Paris.
Unfortunately it will close on July 30st and I will miss it:
