Hello Dear Collectors

what literature on the subject (preferably in German) do you recommend, Colleagues, to a beginner "collector" of Kaiser headgear, with particular emphasis on pickelhaub?

Thanks for the tips, with a collector's greeting I remain.

A basic set of books on German Police helmets would be by Erich Radecke, "Polizei-Abzeichen Helme-Heraldik-Historie". This is a three volume set covering different periods of time published by Soldi-Verlag. ISBN 3-928 028-44-8.

I hope this is helpful.

Thank you very much for the tips, Mr. Coert.

Do we know where they can still be purchased new copies
"Under Arms of the Kaiser" by Mike Kelso?

if you can read french there are some very good books, see photo's (Laine, lacarde, and others)
and the feldgraue uniformerung is good and in german although its about the whole uniform so only partly about hauls, the american books next to it are also all right

Worth buying?
I like both of these fellows who did these books
and I have them
However let me say that Randy showed me the photos
that they had for the book .
The photos were great .
I think the books were printed in China
some way the printed photos in the book
did not match the quality of the submitted photos.
I also expected the books to be a larger format

Lanie is my everyday quick reference for helmets
epaulettes & shoulder straps and uniforms

Yes Laine is the best "quick reference" there is for us Imperial German collectors. As I have said before, I always take my copy to the SOS and it is right at our tables!

Also a very good book for a quick overview is the Field guide from James Turinetti.
He wrote also a Buyers Guide with average prices for helmets (updated every 2 years), but unfortunately the last one was published for the years 2018-2020.
