Live Auctions - has anybody ... ?

I'm totally unfamiliar with these kind of auctions, has anyone had any experience with them? The associated premiums have always made me think they were over-priced. But now I'm not so sure. There seems to be an abundance of those pointy hat thingos on there.

Have done many live auctions with some success!

On this auction be careful what you are bidding on, a friend of mine has personally seen all of the helmets in this auction and some seam to be put together, ask for more pictures etc. before bidding.

The commission fees can be a real downer, some 21% plus tax. Then comes the shipping cost.
If you live in Europe or UK this can be frightening.
I bought an item an old musical instrument, 7 kilo's weight, for 600 dollars, plus 21% and tax,. The shipper wanted 700 dollars to ship it. Another which I had to eventually accept sent it for 460.

THe shipper refused to place " No commercial value" on the package..... it means nothing to them, as they have been paid..... so then the package arrives in UK and customs slap another 12% on the whole value including shipping costs, along with a handling fee of around 15 dollars.. so the old instrument which I won for 600 dollars finaly cost me 1350 . So if it is investment you are after,,, think carefully.

If you go down that route be ready for some shocking extra charges.
