Dear members,

I'm looking for photos of the actual Pickelhaube worn by Prince Schaumburg-Lippe's Flügeladjutant.
I only have the illustration of the helmet's wappen at the moment, but not very helpful. I'm hoping to find out what colour the wappen is, now knowing the eagle is silver-plated, but the Schaumburg-Lippe coat of arms in the centre I am not sure. Either all in gold or both gold & silver? Your help is very much appreciated, thank you!

Jvpi,

According to Stubb’s book “Imperial German Military Helmets and Headress 1871-1918” (page 82), Schaumburg-Lippe Flügeladjudant had a silver garde eagle with an 8 pointed silver star which was interwoven with a gilded band with the inscription “PULCHRUM MORI SUCURRIT IN EXTREMISM” on the Star a golden crowned shield bore as Arms an arrangement of 3 silver nettles and 3 silver Acorns. In the center was the rose of Lippe in gold. Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Dennis

When you get a chance could you post the illustration?

Hi Dennis, thank you for the description, I've read the same description from a German reference book. I was just curious about what this wappen looks like in real, since the nettles and acorns are silver on gold shield. So I guess not a one-piece construction?

Brian posted photos starting back in 2020, of some of Jim Turinetti's Flugel Adjutant helmets.

The thread is found here, starting with post #19 going forward, first showing a post 1912 Lippe Flugel Adjutant helmet:

Post #25 shows a pre-1912 Lippe Flugel Adjutant helmet. This one has a great label inside for maker "Adolf Muller, Herford / Hoflieferant Sr Durchlaucht / d Furst z Schaumburg-Lippe."

Best wishes,

Alan

Hope this helps.
Hello MoDog1,

Thanks a lot for posting the page from this book, I forget about the book completely. Very helpful! Nice to see this older and rare example, now I get it. Although IMO this silver & gold combination looked a bit strange.
