M15 Artillerie - all original?

Hi,

What do you think of this M15, marked "Eisenbahn Regiment 3" and dated 1916..

Do the wappen and the "ball" look ok to you? I have a feeling they might be painted postwar, but could use a second opinion.

What do you make of the name inside? Is the last letter an F?

Jo, those do not look repainted to me. They look correct and period.

Eisenbahn Regiments wore a spike as you might know, so the ball (which looks like a nice one) is not correct for this helmet.

Hi Tony, no I didn't know that about the spike... That's weird because the ball matches perfectly in color, although it is a bit loose in fit.
Would it be hard to find a matching spike?

What would be a correct price to pay for this helmet? I think it's a very nice piece..

P.S. Do you have any pics of a similar pickelhaube, or another one with the same paint finish? I didn't find any yet..

I remembered this post when I saw that there is a really great picture of an Eisenbahn unit with felt helmets out right now. Sort of the the ne plus ultra I guess.
