This brings up an interesting point.... would the cockades have been removed due to the cover being installed on the helmet? I wonder about this, given the scarcity of the cockades. I know the covers are also scarce, and this one looks great, but the fact that the spike and cockades are missing seems like this may have been the case. Just some thoughts, as the cockades would have been more metal to get snagged on the cover as it was going on the helmet. Thoughts from anyone?

I’m by no means an expert but this type of uberzüg is meant to be worn with no spike as there is not the typical sewn in attachment to cover the spike. As for regulations with respect to the cockades I’ve no clue but it makes sense the soldier would remove them with this type of cover as they are not seen and there is no reason to remove the cover as the chinstrap is readily accessible through the side slots sewn in for it
