M16 Camo Helmet Shell

I love these, whist only the shell it’s still nice!

I read somewhere that often liners were pulled out due to fears of head lice etc , makes sense!

This one has a few random paint splashes from a garage, where it probably lived for many years after WW1.

That's a very beautiful camo. I would buy it any day! Congratulations.

The story about torn out liners due to head lice seems a bit stretched in my opinion.
If that would be a real issue you would see it often and with helmets of the other armies as well. More over a steel shell bouncing on top of your head is very impractical as well

Ok, I have read it more than once and in the context of anti German feeling at the time etc (I mean allied soldiers NOT Germans removing the liners when taken as souvenirs!).

It makes sense to me, though obviously in no way an absolute rule.

My observations from being a former WW2 German helmet collector are far more WW1 German helmets have had the liners removed than WW2 equivalents.
