M16 Garde Helmet

Here is a M16 Garde helmet, has the eblem, to what unit I can not tell, But has been painted over to serve as a fire helmet, even with the fire lining. Do you think that the paint can be removed and the be restored to its former glory?

I think it's incredible that even that much of the shield should have survived when you consider that they were just painted on. I'd be interested in seeing more pictures of the insignia and helmet.

The paint could probably be removed by using a water based paint remover and great care especially where the original Garde shield is. I would do all of this over a sink so that the stripper can be washed off immediately if it seems to be doing dammage to the original paint. Brian
