M17 Stalhelm with Camouflage

Gentlemen, what do you think of this one?

The chinstrap looks fake to me and that ship-home address tag doesn't mean it's the real thing but what about the camo?

Looks good. A couple of the close ups of the 1 66 mark don't look like they're from the same helmet (not that it matters). Notice on the bottom row how nice the paint is around the numbers on the helmet and how rusted they are on the others. I'd spend some time making sure all of the photos that count match.... but I'm with the others. I like it.

:D Ron

Maybe the camo job looks OK but I'm not so sure about the chinstrap which has studs instead of stitching and seems died on both sides...
Anyway, the seller only ships to the US it seems and can't be contacted (although he says the opposite)!! :(

Many thanks for the offer Keith but we'd need to clear this with the seller first as the PayPal account & address I use are my roommate's in Montreal (I pay him back through bank drafts or transfers from Lebanon).
Somehow the seller is unreachable: If you click on 'ask a question' and then answer 'No' + 'Continue', it tells you 'the seller isn't available...'

Hi Ron

All looks fine to me. The liner, the camo and the strap. They did make them with studs. Heres one I pulled out of a dugout, so totally genuine, alongside one from my collection also studded. The stud has rusted away on the top one, but you can still see it was done that way. They were actually hollow rivets. I have another somewhere in the depths of my room, also from a dugout and still with the hollow rivet in place. Only thing I will say is that all 3 of mine have brass fittings, so Im not 100% they used this method on grey metal straps, but I guess they did.

It does look a little less aged than the helmet and it is dark on both sides. The pics wont open for me so I had to use the magnifier so I cant see if its a hollow rivet. It may just be that someone treated it. The one in my pic has been treated in the past (not by me) and it does look like its been dyed both sides.

Even if it is a remake, its still a nice helmet. I would be happy to own it. Hope this helped.

Andy

The reason why the bidding hasn't gone up much is probably because many potential buyers like myself aren't being able to reach the seller for anything, let alone payment & shipping terms...
Can anyone in the US try to see if they get that message denying any further contact with seller after they click on 'ask a question' followed by 'No' followed by 'Continue' ?

SOLD FOR $960
Hopefully to someone on the Forum who's planning on reselling it to me for $965? :-"
