M1871 Prussian Picklehaube

Hi, everyone! I’m new here.

I have an authentic m1867 Prussian Picklehaube. It was an ex boyfriend’s. He was from Vienna, Austria. It was given to him by his fraternity brothers. He left it with me when he went back to Vienna 10 years ago.

I want to list it on eBay, but not sure how much to ask. I’ve seen them go $800 and up. Even in the same condition as mine. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

This is actually a m1871, not 1867, which is not very different. Could you make a picture of the name tag present inside the shell?
Many thanks!

Really? I did hours and hours of research trying to figure it out. 🫤. Oh well. Here you go. TY

You already did very well, you were close. The difference with the 1867 model is the metal reinforcement ("spine") that runs along the back of the shell and is not present on the former.

Yeah, it was crazy how there would be one tiny difference to make it a different year/model. Thanks for your input.

It’s seems to be an untouched helmet M1871 for enlisted men. I like it very much.
I think 800€ to 1100€ are realistic. Good luck:)

From what I can tell, everything looks original and correct. It is not a rare helmet, but you don’t find these early ones every day. Nice to see one that hasn’t been updated. Condition determines value. I would say this is in average condition. I think your $800 number is probably close to what it is worth. I would say between $600 and $1000 is the range. Just my opinion. Hopefully you will get more feedback.

Thank you. No it is from Vienna and is authentic. My ex boyfriend didn’t even really care about it. So he didn’t take it back with him.

I am surprised it wasn't abused if it was a Frat helmet! Painted silver and used as a drinking goblet! Nice helmet. Rob
