M1895 EM belt with regimental buttons

Gents,

I picked this up on ebay yesterday, thought it might be fun researching. It appears to be an original Model 95 service issue EM belt, with buttons and badges from various German units looped through the belt. Something recently put together or a Wartime souvenir? I would think the latter, seems like a very practical way to gather and display your souvenired items. Anyone have good references on the badges/buttons?

Hi Mike:

Without seeing it, my best guess is that you purchased a "hate belt." These were usually put together by souvenir hungry yanks, tommies, diggers, and kiwis, and incorporate buttons, Kokarden, badges, etc.
