M1915 Prussian

Far from the worlds best M1915 helmet but I just cant help loving these end of an era helmets , this is a recent acquisition "rescued" from ebay which had the fittings nicely painted silver by a well intention ed previous owner who also took the liberty of giving the shell a coating of shellac, Cleaned fittings and scraped off the shellac then popped on the repro strap and cockades tonight. Funny thing was the vendor didn't mention the embellishments.

Helmet is marked IR 148? look like 8 but could it be a 3? and nice 1915 marking

Any one have any info on this Infantry Regiment?

Cheers

Andrew

BTW
are you into reloading ammo ....
:D

Hi Francis, no not a reloader, just left overs from a bit of shooting over the weekend ;-

Nice helmet, congrats! IR143 and IR148 were both Prussian regiments and either one of these regimental stamps is therefore consistent with a Prussian helmet.

I think I will hold mg parts for ransom. The stink common Prussian M15 is my favorite helmet

LOL they are a bit of a disease Gus.... Another one arrived today and there is yet an other hiding under a field cover.....As common as muck but they are very appealing

That would be a fun 'sticky', "The Lowly M15". I've a bunch of them too. As a matter of fact, when I started collecting in the 70's, I'd only ever seen the pre-war models and wondered what the heck this expensive $40 'spiked helmet' I got from 'Shotgun News' was all about with its gray metal fittings. Did I get ripped off by the seller??? What's up with this spike? (Shotgun News is a US collector's newspaper for shooting enthusiasts). After I learned more about them, I really got to like the M15 and seldom pass one up.
