M91 Chinscales

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for 91 chinscales.

Shipping would be to Europe, willing to cover costs, etc.

I’ve been looking for one for a while but haven’t had any luck - any help in doing so would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Max

The chinstrap you show is not a standard Prussian M91. It's an M96 specific to the Bavarian Reserve and Landwehr infantry.
If it's for a Prussian or Prussian-standard helmet, it's not this model:
---or the one with slides.

---or the one with flat scales.

And you need to measure the passage of the spigot to avoid any surprises during assembly.Touril# M91.JPGclécailles épaisse.JPGclécailles fine.JPG

Thanks for the advice.
I’ve noticed in images that they vary massively in thickness, which can make them rather frustrating to source.

Yeah, I’m aware of that—I edited my post and changed it from M96 to M91.

I’ve given up trying to search for these as M96s, since very few people seem to know what I’m referring to. So, I updated my post and added an image to avoid any confusion.

All the online listings I’ve seen seem to sell these as “M91s” (e.g., KP Emig, small sellers, etc.). - I meant Knopf 91, just realised my mistake

I should clarify that I’m also looking for the version with scales—that one seems to be much easier to find, based on what I’ve seen.

Thanks again for the clarification and response.

That photo is my helmet.
It's a Bavarian EM helmet. You have to make sure that your M91 side posts are thick enough for the early chinstrap lugs
Thanks for the response.

Yeah, I saw that mentioned in the article where I took the image from—they seem to vary massively in thickness.

Apologies if it felt like I stole your image.

I’ll remove it if you’d prefer. I assumed it was fine to use since it was part of an informational/research article.

I also added credit below the image so people could find it if they wanted to, although I didn’t cite it properly or include a link - I can see how that can be considered wrong.

Hey am ok with the image. Don't worry about it. You did indicate the source and that it's very nice of you.

I think i do have a spare chinstrap for that.

Please feel free to PM me if you do — I pay well depending on condition!

I assume you're located in the U.S.? (Apologies if that's something you're not comfortable sharing.)

I'm currently in Europe — just a heads-up in case you'd prefer not to deal with the hassle of international shipping.

I forgot to mention this in my post, but I’m also searching for the version with scales in case you have that one.

Thanks for your reply,
Max
