Welcome Chuck, good to have you with us. This looks original to me from your photos although hard to tell whether it is brass or nickel plated due to lighting conditions. This is an OR's version with solid crown on the eagle's head and soldered loops on the reverse. These plates are fairly rare and were worn on both Dragoon and metal JzP (Jager zu Pherde) helmets. Very nice, congratulations.

Thanks Brian. I believe it's brass with the front side heavily patinaed. The backside shows nice shiny brass. I bought it thinking it was M15 steel. It was very tough to determine exactly what it was by the sellers' pictures.
