Something i will need to update in the bookJ.Bambus & Co was a maker. Have a look at Johan Somers' book: volume 7. 'A photographic journey of uniforms and equipment through the 20th century'. 'Felt Helmets': pages 138-207.

Fantastic investigator job, I'm impressed !The maker's stamp reads " B. Perl Jr. Nachfolger Breslau". Perl was a hatter in Breslau and the "Nachfolger" (successor) was an Austrian by the name of Franz Schneiderhan who took over Perl Jr's straw and felt hat business in 1907.
Maybe , but I think this is just patina because the spike is M95 not M15.-Chemicaly darkened Neusilber...?
