Max Show

I believe it was the "Iron Chancellor" Otto von Bismarck who once said "Budget, shmudget." Or something like that.

Congrats on a victorious show! Looks like you won the MAX this year. (y)

I'm sure there will be others posting some spectacular acquisitions!

I still think there was a nice amount of Imperial items there. Just need to hunt for it.

It also doesn't look like much as it is overwhelmed by the volume of dealers selling items from Post ww1 conflcts. I'm actually seeing a significant number of vendors focusing on Vietnam and newer conflicts.

Thanks Tony.

I'll post everything in time. Just exhausted from the show and going to Barcelona in a few days so will have to wait a few weeks.

I remember that you collected SS at one time. I focused on WW2 for many decades only switching (partially) to Imperial a few years ago (ran out of TR to collect LoL). I typically stay away from Allgemeine SS and NSDAP. But every TR collector needs a few Waffen SS helmets and visors LoL

The visor comes out of a very old collection and is wonderful. It's got 40 years of provenance and is solid with wonderful honest wear.

The Meybauer EK was a great find. It was tucked away unseen in a case of all fake EKs. But I immediately saw this gem and knew it was original and purchased it for a steal. You don't see these often.

The pilot badge is a very early Juncker that's published and dates back to 1914 with the pilots name. There were only around 250 pilots (and less than 300 observers) at the start of the war

The 1813 was the gem though. I've looked for years with no luck. It walked into the show. One of those situations we have all been in. You have 15 seconds to make a decision because if you think too long about it, there are people behind you who were going to snap it up. All I can say is that it's good to have good friend to help you out.

And a big shout out to Skipper. I always purchase lots of his hat stands.

Great seeing Brian and James. I think they got tired of me coming by and talking to them.

Looking forward to see what others got.

Everything will be posted in time.

Never get tired of talking to fellow collectors, I personally did not find much, however, I am happy that I was able to get a helmet that was in Chip Minx collection! And picked up a good chunk off wappens and parts

If memory serves AofK flew in Wednesday, did the show Thursday and then flew out Friday afternoon. It was a quick visit. We had supper with them Wednesday night. It’s always fun to hear about their latest finds!
They were packed up and gone by 11 AM on friday

Sounds like it was a good show. I set up with a friend at the old Monroeviile Pa MAX shows for several years, but need to attend the new location; maybe next year. Looking forward to the photos!

I arrived a little late Thursday, so I started on the left side of the hall knowing our tables were on the right side. Two or three rows in I was talking to a fellow Imperial Collector who is starting to sell his collection and after 1/2 and hour we made a deal for an item that THANK GOD, he didn't bring to the Show which took almost my total show budget.:cry:

It then took me 5 1/2 hours to make it through the show and to our tables, so I never even had time to put out anything out Thursday.

Friday, I brought a few things from home to move on. Sold one Pickelhaube for the 153 to a nice Frenchman and a Lubeck Visor to another gentleman. It seems most of the money these days comes from Europe, and they are looking to buy for resale, and it can sometimes be difficult, but I totally understand. Hey they have to make a living.

Got to become friends with the guys set up behind us from LM Militaria as well as some of their friends from Norway and Holland all very nice guys and the few Lagers we shared were the perfect Woerterbuch. Some really funny stories came out, good times. Talk about WSS insignia they had a case full of quality original pieces and a few items of Insignia that were under the table were even nicer. (y)

If the guys that wanted my WSS Parka set happen to read this, please reach out, I think we can make a deal. I left Friday to be home with family and friends to celebrate the opening of Oktoberfest which is our family tradition.

I tried to break away to find you guys at row K but the time I went by there was a gentleman with a nice big beard deep in conversation and I just couldn't break though without feeling rude. I thought no worries I'll just go by again later but sadly it never came. I did talk to Helmut and almost bought a M15 but the back visor was just a little too poor for me for the price. Also talked about a nice early Camo Helmet with Regimentals but it was just a bit TOO HIGH for me anyway..... I had just picked up a large group of items a few weeks ago and kept several for myself so I can't complain overall it was a fun show and that's really what it's all about. (y)
