mecklemburg pickelhaube

Dear friends, just a question: are the chin scales of this pickelhaube the right ones for this one, normally according to the interior, they are men's helmets, with leather chin strap, or would that be unique for this unit or parade helmet? Who can tell me more about this helmet or whether it is 100% original?

I see absolutely no problems with this one.
The flat chinscales were also worn at the I and III/GR89 when not in the field (Larcade I, page 83).,
Philippe
Thank you very much, philippe; I doubted it because the pin on the helmet is crew and the chin switches were off, so this combination is original after all.

Hello Gino,
Same as Philippe.

Beautiful helmet in its "Parade" configuration. Theoretically, this scale chinstrap was no longer authorized for infantry upon mobilization for the front (only artillery and cavalry were still permitted to wear it for a few more months).

But faced with a shortage of clothing, everything available was used, including brand-new helmets reserved for parades. . At the mobilization, many AKOs were no longer respected, and the helmet cover concealed quite a few approximations.
Infra, a trained eye will discern a scaly chin strap under this helmet cover.

thanks

I am not specialist in spike helmets, but personally it looks OK to me. I really like regimental markings 👋 👋
In general it is a great looking and rare helmet, congrats.

Regards,
Milosz
