Sergei,

The Soviet soldiers continued the list...but they left the old lists intact !!
The old stables were used as garages for their vehicles.
I don't know what Soviet units were stationed in Parchim ? When ? Do you know ?

Thank you,
Francis

There were stationed:
18-й отдельный танковый батальон - Tank Battalion
568-й мотострелковый орденов Суворова и Кутузова полк - motorized infantry regiment

Thanks for your nice comments gentlemen!

I just found a Mecklenburg-Schwerin Kokarde for the helmet, awaiting receipt in mail from the seller.

I'm not thrilled with the National Kokarde, but unfortunately it was part of the seller's package deal.

Best Regards,

Alan

Hello,

I was lucky to find a pair of enlisted silver Cavalry chinscales with the screw type mount to put on the helmet. One side still has the leather strap with buckle. The other side is missing the leather strap, broken off at the point where it came out from the cover wrapping on the backside of the chinscales.

I'm not sure if the rosettes are the correct style for enlisted men.

I'll have to find a set of enlisted kokardes with the small hole for screw mounting. For now these ones will have to be fillers. At least the helmet looks a whole lot better with a set of chinscales on it, even if the last owner of the chinscales polished them.

What are everyones thoughts, should I gently clean the rest of the silver fittings on this helmet?

Best Regards,

Alan

Being as lazy as I am I think that the silvery scales will grow patina pretty darn fast. If this guy polished them then surely they will turn darker.
