a good Christmas gift, or a birthday present. [-o<

Sure shined the daylights out of it! Must've almost rubbed it to a nub. So much for its original patina. Oh well....

This is a very very rare helmet but at first glance and just call it a feeling but I don't like it. Maybe its the pictures but it looks too "fresh". I would want to see some good detail pics of wappen, close-ups.

It does look like it's been polished quite a bit. [-X

It sure looks like that. I prefer to leave a helmet as it is except from the occasional dusting :D

It was an interesting helmet, does someone got in touch with the seller or knows the buyer ? I would be very interested in a close up of the central part of the plate, I make a sort of comparative study on Strelitz plates :)

The seller said, "the 'vent' on the spine is non-functional, correct for artillery (2) the balltop does not unscrew - it is one piece."

A pre-war artillery helmet without a vent on the spine makes sense, but why would a Kugelhelm have a non-functional vent other than it was merely stuck?

Stuck or came loose and was soldered in place later. :?:

One bid got it. (no, not mine)... I'd be worried about no counter bids though, if I'd plunked down an offer.
