Hi Everyone,

I was fortunate to recently purchase this buckle from Jerry Rehr, and greatly enjoying having it in my collection. Thanks Jerry! :salute: :thumbright:

The tab looks to be 1916 dated (with only the "6" visible). Maker appears to be "A. Kruger", "Rehna I/M".

Thanks to Chip Minx, I've learned that Rehna is in Northwest Mecklenburg. Thanks Chip! :thumbright:

Front side photo is a bit blurry, so I've also included a photo that's clearer, but unfortunately taken upside down of the front view.

All the Best

Alan

Thanks Tony! :occasion5:

I think that I will owe Jerry a beer too at the Twin Cities Military Show in April. :occasion5:

It was very nice of him to think of me, I really appreciate it.

All the Best,

Alan

That's a great buckle Alan, glad you were able to fine one, and all the better since it came from a friend. :thumb up: I have a couple of these Mecklenburg guys, would you like to see some pics?

Hi Guys

Sorry for the delay but had to recharge the camera battery, then dinosaur-man had his issues with image shack this morning.

Guess we'll start with an M1915 example similar to Alan's

Next, his older brother, M1895

and last but certainly not least, a slightly different one..

We have one other, a variant of the M1895 Mecklenburg-Schwerin, bit different shape to the star..

Hope you enjoy.

Very nice ones, as expected. I think I have seen that Wilhelm Berg one before (or at least one just like it). It's a beauty.

Chip

Thanks Chip, much appreciated. A gentleman on another forum posted his buckle collection today, several Mecklenburg examples there as well...must be Mecklenburg day today.

Larry

Larry,

Yes, I saw those. I thought there were a couple in that collection that looked questionable. I don't care for M95 buckles with the bright steel bar housing for the prongs (Steghülse für Schnalldorne). I thought that style prong assembly was a wartime invention.

I only have a M95 Mecklenburg-Strelitz example and it is pretty much identical to yours.

Chip

This is more steel Mecklenburg buckles than I have seen in ages! Some say the Strelitz version does not exist in steel, but I have seen one. I thought I had found another one years ago at the museum at Ft. Pompelle, but it turned out to be a brass one that was painted feldgrau. Has anyone else ever seen the steel version?

Chip

Hi Chip

I have never seen a steel one, yet, I'll keep looking for one. You've seen one, that's enough for me.

Larry

Really nice buckles, everyone! =D>

Thanks for posting them! :thumbright:

That would be great to see a Strelitz buckle in wartime steel construction.

All the Best,

Alan

Hi Guys

Thought you all might enjoy seeing this ad from a 1925 Bannerman's Catalog offering this German buckle for sale. Those were the days....
