Memorial to the fallen soldiers of Cologne

When I got this photo at first I thought that
the Kurassiere veteran was holding the flag of K R 7
Checking with member Kuerassier
He sent me to a link showing that this photo was
taken in 1927 at the site of the memorial to the fallen
soldiers of the Cologne troops and the crew of the light
cruiser "Coln "
since there is at the site, a plaque to K R 8
I am now thinking the flag might be that of K R 8
the veterans carry a mixture of original flags of the Armee
and flags of the veterans' groups

It would be nice to know who the officer is
If this helps, here are units shown on the plaques
so, I think the veterans would be form these units

On my former scanner I could adjust the settings
on this new one
either I can't or I don't know how
I scanned just this part of the photo
not sure if this will help ?
