it is what we call a KIT helmet and 100% ok, I see it is for sale on WAF forum at a fair price.

Just missing chinstrap

Excellent example of the kit helmet! Does it come with it’s felt skull cap up in the shell? These are designed so that the pieces simply snap into place, no stitching required except for the liner.

I was looking in a hurry, it was actually pieces of cork from what appears to be a band of padding behind the leather liner - no felt in crown.

Do we know what the markings mean please?

Made by the Berlin maker Firma van der Heyden, size is 55 cm. This company always used this style of gold painted markings. Most of the kit helmets I have seen were made by them.
