Metal uhlan helmet, Replika?

What do you tell about this ?

Apparently someone likes it enough to plunk down almost $300. Maybe the bidder labors under the delusion that it's actually real and that the seller's description of it as a replica is mistaken.

Maybe, in which case they'd be mistaken... :) Sounds like the seller is being very above board on what he has, might have that 'old smell' and 'old' feel but isn't right, therefore... an old replica.

The first is a solid one 8) , the second is very "strange" 8-[

It looks like an authentic tschapka body with may be an authentic plate (but not sure) and with plenty of "things" that should not be there...

And the visor is missing !! :-&
 
The second one makes you weep, doesn't it? I don't know much about Uhlan helmets, but it looks original except for the 'add ons'. Probably once a BEAUTIFUL helmet, turned into a play thing. :( Good for parts? Restoration? If somebody gave me something like that, I'd be pretty jazzed. :wink:
