So in the Mexican Revolution, which ended in the 1920s, they used a post-WWII American style pressed fiber helmet!
 
Somewhere, if I can find it, I have a scan of my wife's Grandfather's service record whose has a brigadier general during the revolution. In it he's wearing the regulation hat for a Brig Gen in the Mexican Army for that time period
