Looks like maybe the Mexican officer metal parts were transferred to an enlisted German shell.
Or not?
 
I couldn't really say. However, it does look like somebody sprayed a clear gloss over the dome [-X . From what I've heard, these were manufactured in Germany, so who knows what the construction was? For all I know, this could be the helmet of a Sergeant who wanted a lot of cool fittings and the leather liner (which is cooler temperature-wise than the officer's). So, I guess I'm my usual helpful self.

I'm sure its a parts helmet- these were only for officers, and they were high quality just like the ones on the Continent!

So there! I'll go with that. I don't know much about these helmets. Still don't like the way it looks spray glossed.
