French souvenirs. It is still possible on the market to find MG08/15's from WWI, captured by the French with a V and number.
 
Cool pictures! While most people were content taking small items like metals and bayonets the Australians actually took a tank. Looks like we might get a chance to see it and maybe even give a presentation.

There are quite a few French postcards depicting captured German MGs. After WWI there were thousands in France but by WWII, where like UK many were re-cycled for their metals etc for new arms production, most that were left were taken back to Germany in the occupation.

GB had one too from WWI but may have been used for WWII salvage/scrap. 8-[
Australia converted many of their WWI captured MGs into .303 for any impending Japanese invasion so for collectors today in AUS and NZ the majority of their remaining WWI KaiserReich MGs are British calibre.
