Weren't the cloth-covered helmets discontinued when the gray trim appeared?

Hey Brad, I was about to post this one which is a tough call to me.
From what I understood, this should be a pre WW1 shako.
Apart from the 1916 date, the plate for instance looks wrong on the obverse but OK on the reverse, doesn't it? :-k

There's its undated NCO equivalent that definitely looks saltier/more convincing that was recently posted on the Age of Kings for the price of a full-option East Asian Tropenhelm (!)

Same as the (NCO) Reichs cockade, didn't the Feldzeichen come in an NCO version too?

Here's the closest I got to MG Shakos (or the MG itself for that matter :D ); the Prussian card was mailed in 1912 and the Saxon card in 1917:

Its probably a fake because original MG tshako's are extremely rare and many fakes are sold as authentic ones. Tony has added a few words on the history of the tschako on his site, which may offer some insight:

Best regards,

What!? It's Blindingly obvious !.That's just a regular shako that somebody has covered with green cloth and dabbed a lick of paint over the black Laquer on the ,,, Wrong colours too. Green too light, Brown too dark.

Hey Bruno, the link to the AOK one is right before the postcards above. It's nice and real but pretty expensive to me!
I was wondering about the fedlzeichen; shouldn't it be NCO like the cockade (if these ever existed)?
