Not my latest finds exactly, but these appeared on this site this evening -items 180 and 181. http://www.militaryantiques.co.uk/showpagec.ihtml?cat=404&jump=4&sess=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Hessian in particular might appeal. No idea if the price is decent --seems high? Also, no idea if it's genuine!

Any thoughts?

Patrick

I have bought a couple of British dress helmets from him in the past and been very satisfied with quality, price and communications.

Hey Patrick,
Item 180 seems to have the wrong (line/infantry) spike and this is probably why price is fairly low for such a helmet. I've never bought from this seller before but with such poor quality photos, there's not much one can tell about authenticity or condition... Good digital photos are not that hard to make and when you have old stuff to sell online at such high prices, the least one can do is take good closeups from all angles. My 2 cents :)

I should have made it clear that it wasn't a case of the Hessian appealing to me - I was just flagging these up in case anybody might be interested.

Although I have collected haubes I'm essentially a collector nowadays of British Victorian blue cloth and heavy cavalry helmets which is why I was looking at the new listings on the site. However, I still look into this forum from time to time. I see ulan9 still has an adoring fan club!

I agree, don't buy from this seller. I bought a M15 pickelhaube from this seller in the past and it turned out to be an awful fake.

Regards,

Edwin

Nothing bad to say about this seller (my opinion).
I have bought from him a real nice 100% authentic felt Haube, a few years ago. Item has been discussed on this forum:
