Great to see the forum back!

What do you think of these guys? Mine throwers with tschackos? This appears to be the 1916 version of the 7.58 cm Minenwerfer.

Robert,

My initial reaction is that they are a part of a jäger battalion, probably the Ersatz company still back in Germany. I just cannot seem to make out that shoulder strap.

Good observation I did not see that. If that is a wounded badge, then this was March 1918 or later.

Any significance to their having carbines? How about the one guy who has neither putees or jack boots? B

most of the men are wearing the 1915 Feldbluse . Would they be issued with the shako's as part Pioneer kompanie attavhed to Jager Battalion?
The officer lookes to have a very dark collar as well as the band on the Shimmermutze looks black .
