Mini Brass Haube

So I just picked up this little beauty. It is about the size of a take away coffee cup, but despite its small size it has real character.

It is made from the brass of a French 75 mm shell. The spike is a Bullet with the cartridge sheaped to form the spike base. I think the wappen is a German collar dog, but am not sure. I love the detail of the Leather strap and buckles, not to mention the kokardes.

I had some trouble getting this piece into Australia. It was initially seized by customs with Australia Post stating that it was ammunition and would be destroyed. They later said I would have to apply for permission to import weapons/ ammunition. After doing so the item was released, without my application being processed. All in all a confusing and contradictory process.

At the end of the day I am glad it now sits on my desk, in front of it’s full size brethren.

Awesome find. Thanks god that it was not destroyed because of this misunderstanding. It is impressive that you recognize the „Kaiser“ at first glance, but it was built only from just a few and simple attachments. Love it :bravo:
