This particular model was was approved in 1900 and introduced in 1901. The leather body is covered with a field grey cloth. Only the visor and neck-guard are painted feldgrau.
Another peculiarity of this helmet is for sure the spike. This appear to be fixed to the body but which can be easily unscrewed. The diameter of the circular base is reduced compared with the M.1895 base.
The circular base did not have bolts whit shaped heads. The ventilation was ensured by five small holes. In this last photo you can see the central pin with threaded screw.
The imperial eagle in my opinion is a masterpiece of style. I love it a lot. Also the eagle is easily removable. As in the M1867 helmet is equipped with two metal sliders soldered on the back.
