The body of the mod. 1900 tropenhelm is taller than the later M1904 tropenhelm. The white cloth band identifies it as an infantry pith helmet. The painted kokade is for a private soldier.

Very nice helmet and very good condition!
When I was little, my grandfather gave me a book by Bernhard Grzimek, "Serengeti Must Not Die". Mr. Grzimek has written a lot about German East Africa in this book. Since then, the topic of the colonial troops of Germany has been very interesting to me.

It is not my intention to bore you but now the cherry on the cake..on the front visor there is the stamp 2.O.J.R. 8C (2^ Oestasia Jnfanterie Regiment - 8 Companie).

The cupolar ventilation brass ring is anonymus without producer's logo but on the leather band of the liner is impressed the manufacturer's stamp Solberg & Schleiter from Berlin
