The monument is on the battlefield of Gravelotte, to the west of Metz.

Cool monument/photo. What are the chances of it still standing?

The statue has been replaced by a smaller monument. The wall in the rear is evidently still original. Regrettably the name plates are lost, leaving only the graves of a few officers with names.
