She picked stuff up for me for over twelve years. She was a perennial attendant at SOS. We have to put her down tomorrow. Cancer has conquered her body. Prototype dog. Best dog ever.

Joe and Janet, so sad to hear.

Lori and my thoughts are with you, she was a blessing at the shows for all to share

This is hard, I have had to do the same with several dogs over the years, it never gets easier. You can not replace them as no two dogs are the same, just like people. We will miss her.
Best

Joe I am so very sorry.

I am afraid that no words of sympathy will help. I am terribly sorry that you lost her. I fully understand your grief. Losing my little noodle destroyed me and I never recovered. Now Nina is almost blind and partially paralysed... I am afraid her little candle that once burned so bright, is burning out.

The grief from losing a dog is overwhelming; its like losing a child.

Here is a link to the Rainbow Bridge story, I cannot watch it without breaking down. Perhaps it will bring you some comfort.

I just hope and pray that its true.

My thoughts are with you and your family, they truly are. Tony

My thoughts are with you Joe!
I have already lost 3 dogs over the years and know exactly what you are going thrue. One was hit by a car, the other one died a natural dead, but the third one also had cancer. We had to let him go much to soon... It just hurts to much to find the right words at this moment, but I'm sure you can find some comfort in the many comments here...

Thank you for all your thoughts! Especially the rainbow bridge Tony that was nice. I keep remembering the song Mr. Bojangles where he remembers through tears how for fifteen years his dog and him traveled about. The dog up and died – after twenty years he still grieves.

This is my first morning without the dog. She was such a great traveler and went everywhere with me. We have another service dog training but it will be another year and a half at least. So thank you for your thoughts – three dogs Karel....

Tony if you are about to do the same thing with Nina you have my condolences.

Joe, I also had to put my Tommy to sleep at the age of 10 due to blood cancer... That day, I still remember vividly. He could barely walk as the disease had eaten him up from the inside out. He nevertheless tried to crawl back to the car when we arrived to the vet's somehow sensing why we were there... If any of you has watched Marley And Me, the ending is pretty much similar (except that I didn't have Jennifer Anniston comforting me  )
It was back on Nov. 28, 2007, and I still keep his pics everywhere...
My thoughts are with the both of you. Same as Tony, I sure as hell pray they are indeed "somewhere" waiting for us.

Joe: just want to add my deepest sympathy to you and Janet. Its always a sad time when you lose a special companion! My condolences to both of you, Dick
