Moving to Hogtown

Relocating at the end of the summer to Toronto. Have lived there before, so this won't be a total surprise. Maybe I'll make a trek up to Barrie to visit you, Brian.

There are a couple of good shows in the Toronto area. I try to make the Toronto West show in Etobicoke one at least once a year. Next one is in September. I'll try to make that one.

Thanks, Peter. That's good to know. Maybe I'll meet some of the forum members. I assume the "Pickelhaubes.com" banner will be on display. :-s

Probably not, but maybe I can talk Brian into getting a table. I should note that the last time I went to the show was in September and I was on my way home by 8:30am as I had another show in America!

If you have a passport you should plan to come to Michigan for the day for the Antique Arms Show in November.

Ahhh.... Hogtown, haven't heard that one in a long time, even my Manitoba cousins don't call it that anymore :). I try to go to the Etobicoke Show once a year but have never set up there basically, because I don't have anything to sell. My collection is small (25 helmets) and I am not looking to increase it. In all honesty, anything I buy, is for restoration, to be sold later for a profit. Good to hear you are moving closer T, I would enjoy meeting you. There are some pluses to this move......you are only 6hrs to the MAX in Pburgh and 9-10 hrs to Louisville, so if the job permits, you can hang with us at the SOS under the P.com Banner which does fly there every year. There is only one militaria shop left in TO and that is Military Antiques run by Dave Hiorth. He sells a lot on Ebay and sends out emails every couple of weeks with a list of things for sale. I have known him for 25+ years, he is a wheeler dealer but an honest one, he values his reputation in the collector community. He knows his stuff, but is a bit weak on the pickelhaube side, he has been burned a few times when unfortunately, I had to point out to him that a couple of helmets he bought, were bogus. Anyway, it would be cool, if we can all meet up face to face. :thumb up:

Getting settled into life in TO, but I've lived here before so it's not a big adjustment. Of course I'll attend the show on September 17 in Etobicoke.

Unfortunately, not going to make it to the TO show this year. We are doing a major Reno on our front apartment so all money and energy is going into getting it into rentable condition once again. Our electricians are on their 5th day of rewiring getting rid of old knob and tube from the 1920's.
